—A Kiss, 1996
Single-channel video, 4’
VHS transferred to DVD, b/w, sound
The close-up of a kiss engages with the nineties slogan "the personal is political". The narrative quality of the filmic, inducing the spectator’s suspension of disbelief, is laid bare by the soundtrack: the contrast between the kiss and a couple arguing short-circuits a reading of something otherwise pleasurable with the sonic insertion of the complexity of interpersonal relationships.
